Copyright & Content Complaints

If a photo, biography or other material on the Index uses your work without permission, tell us and we will review it.

Our position on public content

Unclaimed profiles are built from publicly available sources. Being publicly available does not make a photo, biography or other work licensed for reuse, and we do not treat it that way. We use short descriptive text and public links to identify a creator, and we remove or replace material when a rights holder asks us to or when we find it should not be there.

How to report

Use the request form with the type "Copyright or content complaint," or email index@militarycreator.com with the subject line "Copyright complaint." Either route reaches the Military Creator team directly.

File a complaint

What to include

  • The address of the profile or page where the material appears, and which item you mean, for example the portrait or a work image.
  • A description of the original work and where it was first published, with a link or copy if you have one.
  • Your name, organization if any, and how to reach you.
  • A statement that you own the work or are authorized to act for the owner, and that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized.
  • Any licence or agreement that you believe was breached.

Incomplete complaints slow things down. If we cannot confirm the work or your authority, we will ask for more before acting.

What we do

  1. We acknowledge the complaint and record it.
  2. We review the material, the source it came from and any licence on file. If the profile is claimed, we may tell the creator that a complaint has been made and ask them to respond.
  3. Where the complaint is well founded or cannot be resolved quickly, we remove or replace the material. A profile can stay published with initials instead of a photo.
  4. We tell you the outcome. We aim to complete reviews within 30 days, and clear cases are usually faster.

Repeated or deliberate infringement by a creator can result in the loss of their account.
